Minister: Russia ready for dialogue on Moscow–Kiev air travel

MOSCOW, Aug 1 (PRIME) -- Russia is ready to discuss restoration of air travel between it and Ukraine, but no negotiations are held on the matter, Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov told PRIME on Monday.

In October 2015, Ukraine barred some Russian airlines from flying to its cities, while Russia retaliated with a flight ban for all Ukrainian airlines.

“There is some hope here, and I have some hope here as we have made significant decisions in personnel policy of cooperation with Ukraine. No talks are being held, but our position is open, and it would be mutually beneficial to unblock the current position on the whole or at least in some directions of cooperation – to open transit flights or flights between capitals. We are ready to advance in any format,” Sokolov said.

“It largely depends on the Ukrainian side. We are ready to restart the dialogue on any of the issues or in parts.”
